For the fourth time, the VDB was looking for three young academics whose innovative scientific work makes an outstanding contribution to more climate protection and/or more quality in rail mobility 4.0 and digitises the sector.

Our congratulations to the Clean Mobility Award winner 2024:

• Blanca Roßberg, TU Dresden
  with her student research project „Investigations into the ETCS upgrade of railway vehicles for branch lines from an installation space perspective“

• Tom Horn, NORDAKADEMIE
  with his bachelor thesis „Sustainable battery resource utilisation: analysis and development options for a flexible second-life concept“

• Markus Tesar, Karlsruher Institut für Technologie (KIT)
  with his dissertation „Deep reinforcement learning to increase energy efficiency and punctuality"

The award winners will be honoured at the traditional evening reception marking the opening of the world‘s leading trade fair for transport technology InnoTrans in Berlin. Furthermore, the winners will be invited to attend the entire InnoTrans 2024. In addition, their work will be published in specialised magazines of our sector. The winners will be also linked to the impressive VDB network.
