German Railway Industry Association welcomes 19 New Members

Since the beginning of 2022, the German Railway Industry Association (VDB) e.V. has welcomed 19 new member companies. This brings the association's current representation to 219 companies and their 56,600 employees in Germany alone.

"The railway industry in Germany is a complex ecosystem of large system houses, globally successful medium-sized companies and young start-ups. We are proud that the VDB's membership landscape reflects this multi-layered value chain. Modern mobility in and from Europe needs an innovative domestic industry with strong German locations," says VDB Managing Director Sarah Stark.

Last week, the VDB Presidium approved five membership applications:

  • ENRAIL GmbH: Founded in Lüneburg in 2022, the company develops projects in the field of renewable energies such as photovoltaics and wind.
  • SCONRAIL GmbH: The certification body for the railway sector has been recognized as a Notified Body (NoBo) and Designated Body (DeBo) by the German Federal Railway Authority since 2020.
  • Traco Electronic GmbH: The family-run manufacturer of DC/DC converters and AC/DC power supplies has been in business for over 30 years.
  • trechnology GmbH: Founded in 2018, the company combines years of experience and know-how in the procurement, commissioning, operation, and maintenance of rail vehicles.
  • Waygate Technologies: For over 125 years, the company has been manufacturing equipment, systems, and software for non-destructive material testing of critical components.

"We are gaining even more technical and industrial expertise with the new member companies, along with international market experience. This diversely specialized network, with cooperation at its core, is the driving force of the railway industry in Germany and the success of our association," emphasizes VDB General Manager Axel Schuppe.

Already in 2022 and the first quarter of 2023, the VDB welcomed the following member companies:

  • August Storm GmbH & Co. KG: The medium-sized company offers services for internal combustion engines of all common manufactures in the power range of 100 to 7,000 kW in Europe.
  • Axalta Coating Systems Germany GmbH & Co. KG: The company develops, produces, and distributes a wide variety of coatings for the performance and transportation segments worldwide.
  • Bertrandt Services GmbH: The company specializes in customer-specific solutions in the field of industrial digitization and networking.
  • CAF Deutschland GmbH: Founded in 2012, the company develops, manufactures, and implements mobility solutions and rail vehicles for passenger transport from high-speed to local and regional transport with electric and battery-electric multiple units to urban transport.
  • CERTIFER Deutschland GmbH: The independent inspection, certification, testing body, and academy offers all services of NoBo, DeBo, AsBo, and related testing services from a single source.
  • Diehl Aviation Gilching GmbH: In addition to state-of-the-art fire detection and extinguishing technology in aviation, the complete system integration of these technologies into rail vehicles has also been part of Diehl Aviation's product portfolio for 25 years.
  • EUCO Rail Services GmbH: The independent European service provider for rail vehicle maintenance and modernization offers technical and industrial consulting.
  • Hutchinson Stop-Choc-GmbH & Co. KG: The manufacturer of suspension systems produces and implements all-metal cushions and dampers, spring isolators, elastomer dampers, and stractive worldwide.
  • KANSAI HELIOS Wefa GmbH: The company produces paints and specializes in water-dilutable coatings for the rail vehicle industry in Europe and China.
  • NaKorid GmbH: The Hesse-based company offers a process-secure and EBA-approved repair procedure for insulated joints.
  • Škoda Transportation Deutschland GmbH: The manufacturer of public transport vehicles offers low-floor trams, subways, and electric buses. Solutions for rail transport include locomotives and (electric) multiple units, maintenance and warranties, as well as the installation of electronic systems.
  • Staufen.AG: The consulting company offers training, practical seminars, and management events in the transport and logistics sector.
  • stimio GmbH: Since its founding in 2016, the company has been dedicated to developing connected IoT solutions for the industry.
  • Track Forward GmbH: The digitization specialist designs, develops, and implements innovative software for rail transport, including intelligent maintenance.
